I choose The BirchBark House as one of my books the author is Louise Erdrich there’s 240 pages in this book, I choose it because I like Native American culture, and because I have a lot of Native American in me so I like to read about stuff like this.
The main charater’s in this book are Omakayas and Neewo,Omakayas is loyal to her baby brother Neewo ,she held him in her arms till he died from chicken pox. Omakays is a great medicine girl as well . Neewo was the most special baby in the village but they couldn’t find a name for him so they kept it Neewo ; wich means two in Ojibwa . Omakayas was trying to help her family but baby Neewo couldn’t do much. Her family had chicken pox too it wasn’t just her baby brother . The rest of them survived the disease. But not only did her little brother die but her friend died too . Later on her brother “not Neewo” had gotten burned on the foot and Omkayas had heald it within a day. Everyone was very happy and astonished and they knew she was a medicine woman.
I recommend this book because it’s a great book ; but if you don’t like crying or being sad I probably wouldn’t read the book.
